Position Summary
A respected Baltimore law firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to attorneys across multiple practice areas. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced professional environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and responsiveness are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and paralegals.
- Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal correspondence, pleadings, contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- File documents electronically with state and federal courts.
- Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, hearings, depositions, and client appointments.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and expense reporting as needed.
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic client files.
- Conduct conflict checks and assist with client intake procedures.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors.
- Assist with billing activities, time entry, and preparation of client invoices.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Support special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of legal assistant experience in a law firm environment.
- Experience supporting attorneys in litigation, corporate, real estate, or business law preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with electronic court filing systems in Maryland state and federal courts.
- Strong proofreading, grammar, and document formatting skills.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with document management systems and legal billing software.
- Knowledge of Maryland court procedures and legal terminology.
Schedule
Monday – Friday
Full-Time | In-Office or Hybrid (depending on firm needs)
