Help Desk Specialist (Junior)

Description of work to be done & project name to work on:

The resource will supplement the Computer Operations staff in the Office of Transportation Technology Services (OTTS) and will assume the role of Computer Operator II with the following responsibilities:

  1. Implement and monitor processing on the MOOT IBM z/BC12 Mainframe Computer System including multiple LPAR’s.
  2. Provide Technical assistance in problem resolution for MDOT Departments, mainframe customers, and technical teams.
  3. Report equipment and software problems to vendors, partners, and internal technical teams
  4. Track system related issues and provide ongoing progress information and feedback to stakeholders, clients, and partners.
  5. Provide technical advice and assistance daily to peers.
  6. Interface with customers, engineers, vendors and consultants as technical issues arise.
  7. Coordinate flow of work to assure continuity of operations between shifts in a multi-shift environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  1. Experience with IBM z/BC 12 mainframe z/OS operating system.
  2. Experience with JCL and 24/7 365 batch environment.
  3. MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Financial Systems
