The Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting daily operations across the sales counter, warehouse, inventory control, and logistics functions. This role combines customer-facing responsibilities with operational oversight to ensure accurate order processing, efficient inventory management, and cost-effective shipping and facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Counter & Customer Service- Provide professional, in-person service to walk-in trade customers.
- Process sales transactions and assist customers with product inquiries.
- Enter and manage orders from walk-in customers, phone orders, and internal sales staff.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of order entry and fulfillment coordination.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory levels to support sales and operational needs.
- Perform and monitor regular inventory counts and reconciliations.
- Ensure inventory is stored in correct and clearly labeled locations.
- Assign and track inventory by vendor.
- Manage vendor prepaid minimums and optimize purchasing to meet vendor requirements.
Logistics & Shipping
- Manage and monitor UPS shipping contracts and service levels.
- Evaluate and coordinate LTL (pallet shipment) options and carrier contracts.
- Oversee delivery van operations, including maintenance, insurance, and fuel management.
- Coordinate outbound shipments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Operations & Facility Oversight
- Manage warehouse supply purchases (e.g., boxes, tape, equipment, racking).
- Oversee forklift maintenance and operational readiness.
- Support forklift certification initiatives for warehouse employees (future project).
- Conduct daily operational oversight to ensure productivity, safety, and teamwork.
- Monitor workplace conditions and address operational or personnel issues as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in operations, warehouse, distribution, or counter sales.
- Experience with order entry systems and inventory management processes.
- Knowledge of shipping carriers (UPS, LTL) and logistics coordination preferred.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar systems.
