The Budget Analysts will gather, analyze, report, and reconcile data. Use the automated financial system (PeopleSoft) and the internal cuff system (Farsight) to reconcile fund information and to assist in analyzing and reporting financial information. Assist in monitoring the obligation and expenditure of funds to assure funds are properly allocated, obligated, and expensed. Enter purchase orders, travels, purchase cards and miscellaneous expenses into Farsight.
Responsible to run and distribute weekly and monthly reports. Assist sending documents to the Smithsonian’s Office of the Comptroller for processing. Maintain record of processed documents. Contractors will communicate with fund administrators on a variety of subjects. Perform other budget analyst duties as needed. Contractors shall submit all work through the Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (COTR) for acceptance and approval.
Regular Tasks:
Conduct reconciliations for fund accounts using workbooks in Excel
Perform proper fund availability (allocated, obligated, and expensed).
Prepare/run and distribute weekly and monthly reports in Excel
Prepare/send documents to be sent to Smithsonian’s Office of the Comptroller.
Conduct conversation with fund administrators on fund subjects.

Ability to use automated financial systems to input, retrieve, monitor, and report data.
Basic knowledge of budget formulation and execution.
Ability to communicate orally and to explain administrative and financial procedures to staff.
Experience with procurement, travel, ordering supplies, and reserving rooms for meetings.
